Major Makeup Declutter...

I'm in total nesting mode... Must. Clean. Out. Everything...

Makeup is no exception. Actually, even if I weren't nesting, I would have totally still needed to do this.
When you're kind of makeup-obsessed like me (not to mention when you make beauty videos and are constantly getting new things to try and sample), a decent-sized collection can cross the line into totally out of control overnight. Mine had crossed that line.

So I decided to do a major makeup overhaul and film this little video to give you some of my guidelines and tips that I followed as I completed this crazy task.
Seriously though, it felt so good to get rid of things I no longer needed and things that were just plain old and expired.

I posted this video last week and already I've gotten so many messages and comments from viewers who have done the same and pared-down their collections a bit. It really is a great feeling!
Oh and a little update for ya... As I mentioned in the video, I still had a long way to go as I took you guys through my smaller (but still quite large, to me) makeup collection.  I'm happy to report that I've gone through it again since filming and gotten rid of so much more! Sometimes you feel differently on different days, so I always like to go through areas I'm in the process of cleaning out again and again on totally different days.
So I'm feeling good about my makeup stash now (and totally itching to clean out something else). Any of you cleaning out your collections? ...Or anyone else in a total nesting/Spring cleaning in the Summer mood like me?

Color Me Pink

Little update:
You may remember in my last post about our powder room redo (check that out here), I mentioned re-painting our faux-finished gold-marbelized foyer soon.
Yeah, well that is happening. Today. And yesterday actually. Turns out, painting a two-story foyer and the adjacent hallways upstairs and down was a bit of a job. For a while, I was totally convinced I could do it myself with a large ladder and a good paint roller, but then I came to my senses and decided it was time to hire out for this job.
Thankfully I've been able to corral Waylon (and myself) in the basement. Because let's face it- An 80-pound shedding machine with a tail that sweeps into everything doesn't exactly mix well with freshly-painted walls. Or strangers (to him) coming in and out of the house.
So we've been hanging out down here. I've been working and watching Revenge on Netflix (HOLY goodness... how I had not gotten into that show before is beyond me).

But beyond Revenge, these new babies have been a complete ray of sunshine during this rainy weather, basement-bound few days. I was SO excited when I got this new collection from L'Oreal to share with you all. Picture me swatched in a million shades of pink. Seriously, I've never seen this many shades of pink in one collection before. Super gorgeous and all the colors are totally wearable and flattering.

Not to mention the Color Riche Le Gloss is pretty much my favorite thing ever.

Ok, before I get ahead of myself, let's talk about the Color Riche Lipcolor first.
This collection features 8 shades of beautiful and wearable pink. I LOVE the great range of these. Some darker and closer to red (but still unmistakably pink), some a little more fuchsia and bright, and some a little lighter.
CRAZY color payoff and great quality.

Colour Riche Lipcolor- $8.95 each

left-right:
Wisteria Rose, Pink Flamingo, Ballerina Shoes, Everbloom, Raspberry Flush, Fresh as a Rose,
I Pink You're Cute, Miss Magenta

My favorites out of these are "Pink Flamingo", "I Pink You're Cute", and "Miss Magenta".
These are fast becoming some of my favorite lipsticks at the drugstore. I've loved these for years- Long before my YouTube days, however, I haven't picked up any in a while. I have a feeling that is definitely going to change.
Only downside to these (for some) is the scent. The scent is VERY floral and reminds me of my younger makeup days. One of the first lipsticks I ever really loved was a L'Oreal Color Riche Lipcolor in a very light, iridescent shade. So I always remember the scent. It's very distinct. Very floral.

OOOOOh, these next glosses are really amazing. Never seen more beautifully pigmented glosses than these...

Colour Riche Le Gloss- $7.95 each

Florid Pink, Raspberry Pink, Rosy Demeanor, Pucker Up Pink, Berry Chic

I wasn't kidding about the super-pigmented part. They're really long-lasting too for a gloss. Oh, and they have the sweetest cotton candy scent/flavor. "Raspberry Pink" and "Berry Chic" are my absolute favorites.

So it's no secret that I really love the L'Oreal nail polishes. They make some of my very favorite go-to shades.  So these got me all warm n' fuzzy inside.

Colour Riche Nail- $5.99 each
(l-r)
taste of romance, pink attitude, hella pink, sugary sweet, rosy macaron, berry jealous!

So I've tried all the lip products when I was swatching and if you can't tell already tell, I'm impressed. As for the nail colors, I haven't used any of these particular ones, but you'd better believe some of these are going on my nails next! Eyeing either "hella pink" or "rosy macaron".  Keep your eyes open on my Instagram (follow me if you don't!) to see what I choose next!

Updated CLOSET TOUR & Organization Tips

Call me crazy, but I'm one of those people that are deeply fascinated by closets. Especially other people's.  Considering I started my YouTube channel from our first walk-in at our previous home and filmed in there for a few years, that's probably no surprise to you.

So I'm girly, nosy, and I love closets. Big surprise.

However, I'm also a bit of an organization freak. It calms me to organize things and be in an organized environment. You definitely DO NOT have to spend a fortune on a custom closet to have an organized one.
Check out my video below for a tour of our walk-in at our current home and hopefully pick up some organization tips along the way! ;)

Video FAQ: (basically, where things are from)
-rug: Pier 1 (no longer available....womp womp.)  *Similar one from West Elm, here.
-tufted storage ottoman: Overstock.com
-shoe racks: Container Store
-other little stool: from an antique store
-hangers: Huggable Hangers (or find similar ones from stores like Bed Bath & Beyond and TJ Maxx)
-closet systems: Lowes or Home Depot, customizable closet systems - see the video for more details, not sure of the exacts

Let me know if I left out anything!  Also, what are YOUR biggest closet organization challenges? Any great solutions?

Back to School.... Back to School...

...or work.

What's genius about my back to school tips is that they are the SAME ones I would give for the working gal. So give this one a chance.

I'm totally guilty of overlooking these "back to school" type videos myself, just because, well... I'm not in school anymore.

But these tips are really great for everyone because it's all about creating a quick, easy, and long-wearing look that will take you through the day.

I get so many requests for a "back to school" makeup tutorial. Which to me, is kind of tricky because there are so many possibilities for a specific "back to school" look.

Even trickier, because in high school and college, girls are just beginning to really define their style. Some may be more comfortable wearing more makeup than others. Some may even go to schools with rules and restrictions on what kind and how much makeup can be worn.

That's when I realized that "back to school" makeup isn't defined by a specific look, but should really be all about ease and results.

In other words, something that will get you out the door fast and stay on all day.

Because at school, the last thing you should be worried about is touching up your makeup.

So here are some of my favorite tips for long-wearing makeup that is super easy and quick to apply. So whether you're a mascara and lip gloss gal, or if you love your eyeliner (like I did...every. single. day.), you can adjust these tips and the tutorial to suit you.

Yeah, you read that right. Come on, I was in to makeup. It was my thing.

Check out my video below for all my tips and the tutorial.

Then stop reading my blog and go do your homework.

xoxo, Tiffany
