No Heat Beachy Waves Hair Tutorial

Happy Friday Everyone!
Today I'm sharing with you all my method for creating easy, volumized, beachy waves with absolutely ZERO heat. If you have stick straight hair like me, you know that getting a beachy textured look can be a big challenge. For such an easy-going hairstyle, it's usually pretty complicated (and fussy) for us to replicate- usually using curling irons and tons of product (which usually just gets crunchy and falls flat in an hour).

Well this method gives you great results with hardly any effort. It's seriously so easy, you won't believe it. All the work is done for you overnight!  This volumized, wavy look will seriously last until you wash it out.

So right in time for the weekend (and hopefully for some warm and beautiful weather where you live), here is one of my favorite summertime hair tutorials. I hope you love it!

Current Hair Care Routine (How I've Grown it Longer)

Hello and Happy Monday! Today, I decided to start off the week by sharing my current hair care routine with you all.  Lately I've gone back to some of my old favorites-- Products that have always given me great results and that I've always enjoyed using. I also discovered a new great product that I've been loving lately.
So along with the actual products, I'm also sharing some of my best tips for keeping hair healthy and strong.  All of these tips and products combined have really helped me grow my hair faster and healthier than ever before. I've been really surprised lately at how fast it's growing (and how little it's breaking).
So I hope you all enjoy it and that you'll maybe pick up a trick or two!

What are YOUR current hair care favorites??

volumized wavy curls with a conical iron

Hair is a tricky business. A few weeks ago I had six inches cut off after I got super brave and decided it was time for a change.
Don't get me wrong, it TOTALLY was.  I was very much over the typical, curled, long and blonde moment (for now anyway). I was bored. It's so funny how hard it can be so hard to get used to styling a shorter length, even if it's not that dramatically different.  Because I wanted to embrace the more fun, mid-length look and get used to styling it with a bit more volume, I felt like a conical iron was the way to go.
Surprisingly, it wasn't that hard to get the hang of! I had never really had any experience with styling my hair with one before (other than a single failed attempt a few years ago).  I was shocked at how fast and easy it can be!

Oh, and not to mention, the crazy volume!

So this is how I create my volumized wavy curls with my new conical iron. I hope you enjoy it!

Hope this helps some of you who may be in a bit of a "hair rut" with your regular curling iron, or those struggling to learn how to get back in a "styling groove" with a fresh cut. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Long, Healthy Hair Care & 6-Minute Curling Tutorial

Out of all the hair videos I've ever done, this one is by far the biggest! Sure, it's almost 20 minutes long, but it contains a ton of info.

I knew it was about time to do a current hair routine video, so I thought I'd just sort of combine the basics all into one.

In the video you'll find:
  • My current hair care routine / products I use
  • My tips for growing hair long and healthy
  • My 6-minute easy hair curling tutorial
Yeah... it's a doozie.
I hope you all enjoy it!

Oh, and here's a source list of all the products I mentioned in the video...

My Current Fav Hairstyle: Easy Half-Up Hair Tutorial

I'm coming at you today to start the week with a tutorial for my current favorite hairstyle. Let's call her the "modern pouf".
Like most of my hairstyles, this one just sort of came about naturally, maybe even by accident... I can't remember when exactly I started pulling my hair up half-way using this method, but I have been wearing it like this basically every day.  The name "modern pouf" came to mind because it has some lift at the roots, like a bumped hairstyle, but the lift is more even all around (even right at your forehead), rather than just bumped in the back giving you that sort of "alien" look. Let's just be honest...
We've all been there.

It's a very simple, almost everyday style. Which for me, are some of the best ones to know how to do! You can literally wear this anywhere with anything.  Thick or thin hair. Love this.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Oh and dont forget to look for some more home posts this week! I've got one for sure planned for tomorrow, but I'm also venturing into black paint on the walls in a bathroom!  I'm currently smack in the middle of that project (literally, I just came downstairs to post the video and blog), but I can't wait to share it with you all!
Hope you have a great week, Loves!

Reese Witherspoon's Oscars HAIR Tutorial

Happy Monday everyone! I wanted to start the week with a tutorial of my FAVORITE hair look from the Academy Awards last night.
As always, I watch the Red Carpet special before the show to check out all the gorgeous fashion. I wasn't planning on doing a tutorial on anything, but when I saw Reese Witherspoon walk the Red Carpet with her gorgeous side-swept "old-Hollywood" curls look, I knew I had to recreate it. It's actually super easy too! So if you've got a curling iron, you can do this, gals. The style will last all night and it's so versatile. From a romantic dinner, night out with the girls, to prom, to the Academy Awards, this look works anywhere!
Check out my tutorial below for all the details and I hope you love it!

Voluminous, Long-Lasting Curls PERFECT for Valentine's Day!

Two posts in one day? No, I haven't lost my mind. Just excited to share my new absolute favorite way of doing my hair with you all! Just in time for Valentine's Day! Or a girls' night... Or the grocery store.
You know, whatever.

I can't say enough good things about this method of curling hair. It's easy, it takes 10 minutes, and it lasts until you wash your hair next. Seriously. I've rocked these 2 days in a row before. Sleeping on them and everything. It's crazy.
I've been doing this for a few months now. So for those of you that have been curious about my hair in any of my recent Instagram pics where my hair is curled (ahem, you should totally follow me if you don't! I post pics daily), my recent Sigma Beauty store event, or from IMATS, this is the method I used! Basically any curled hair photos from the past few months, this is the technique.

I know I sound way too excited about this, but seriously, those of you who have ever had issues curling your hair, whether it's the difficulty or the fact that it looks great for an hour and then suddenly turns to crap, this technique is SO worth a try!
My issue with curling hair isn't the ease or that I can't spray the heck out of it to make it last, but because I have super straight and hard to curl hair, curling it could be stressful.  Stick with me... What I mean is that, sure it looked great when it was fresh, but wherever I was going, I would worry that it was falling or that depending on the weather (HELLO southern humidity), it would look totally different and curl-free when I got to wherever I was going.
This method is so great because I can BRUSH my hair. Yes, brush it...  It stays soft and super curly. For days.
and days.
Oh and it doesn't look like crunchy curls. Soft, easy, carefree hair. I love it.
Ok, you get it. I'm a little excited about this technique and so happy I've got a go-to method for curling my hair now.

Check out my video below for a full step-by-step tutorial so you can perfect this method too!

Here's a few things you'll need to get the look...

Paddle brush (mine is el cheapo by Conair. Don't spend your life savings on a brush. Just sayin.)
Paul Mitchell Hot off the Press heat protectant spray (miracle stuff)
Hot Tools 1" curling iron (any 1" curling iron will do)
TreSemme Tres Two Hair Spray
small claw clip

Romantic Curls Hair Tutorial (Curling Iron)

Happy Friday lovelies!! I'm SO happy it's the weekend!
Perfect timing for this tutorial, because I'm going out tonight and definitely wearing this hairstyle.

It's actually quite easy and fast.  What makes this style different from other hair curling tutorials I've done in the past is that I used a slightly different technique and a different hair product that actually holds the curl a lot longer and makes the style look a little softer and more natural.

So you could wear it completely down if you prefer or you could do a super simple half-up look that will prolong the look even further (which I show you how to do in the video).

...I say that because, yes, I am a hair-toucher.  keeping the sides up for this look keeps me from constantly touching my hair to get it out of my face and helps the overall style last a lot longer.

Plus, I think it looks super cute and romantic. ;)

So be sure to check out the video below for a simple step-by-step tutorial on how I use a curling iron to achieve soft, romantic curls.

How I Use Hot Curlers

Ok, so is it "hot curlers" or "hot rollers"? I'm guilty of interchanging both terms... but I'm just curious as to which is most widely used.
I keep wanting to say "rollers" in all the titles for the current video/post/tweets on the subject.
...and something always tells me to go with "curlers".

Ok, enough with the words, Tiffany.
I really love using hot rollers/curlers. I mastered the use of them early in my high school years and never looked back. So much so that the thought of using of a curling iron was crazy to me. (I didn't learn to use one of those babies until just a few years ago.) Anyway, I find that knowing how to use both is a good thing because they actually yield much different results.
I love using a curling iron when I have some extra time on my hands to get ready and when I want more defined, deliberate, "vertical" looking curls.
When I only have about five to ten minutes on my hands to actually mess with my hair, I go with hot curlers. I can get these babies in my hair in five minutes, then do my makeup and finish getting ready while they "set" in my hair. I love them. The result? Beautiful, soft curls that last all day.
To see exactly how I use mine and to get some tips on how to get the best results from them, check out my tutorial below.
xoxo,
Tiffany
