A new favorite dress

I can't believe it's Labor Day weekend already! We're planning on some relaxation, good food (obviously), and I'm even going to fit in some gal-time (hello, Labor Day sales!).

So today I'm sharing what has become my current favorite dress. Seriously, I have to stop myself from wearing it every single day. Funny because this particular empire waist style dresses completely works if you're not pregnant too! I love not limiting myself to styles that work only for pregnancy, you know? It's just so easy and comfortable.
I've dressed it up. I've dressed it down. It's super easy to accessorize and just always works.

Oh, and it doesn't hurt that it just so happens to be in my favorite color. ;)

Casual weekend look

I have reeally enjoyed the whole "dressing myself" thing while pregnant so far. Now that I'm past the whole awkward "is she or isn't she" phase, and the bump is a bit more obvious, it's been SO much fun! Don't get me wrong, the whole process has been great, but to all the mommas out there, you know those "is she pregnant or bloated" months all too well...

So before we headed out over the weekend, we snapped a few quick photos of the easy and casual look I wore.

I love starting with really simple pieces (in this case, white denim and stripes), and adding some stand-out details like the bold necklace, classic, yet eye-catching bag, and of course, my favorite new shoes.

Gender Reveal Party Look...

Hello and happy Thursday, Loves! I don't know about you, but this week has majorly flown by for me!
Last weekend we celebrated our little gal by having a small get-together for a little "gender reveal" party. Food, fun, family... lots of baby talk.

Did I mention cake??

We "revealed" the baby's gender by cutting the cake and revealing a pink or blue center. These type of cakes are SO fun. And delicious. To watch me cut the cake (and everyone's reaction at the party), check out my latest pregnancy update video below...

But on to the look I wore for the party...

Loved this dress. ...and the shoes?? Probably my favorite. I have them in black too and they are amazing! I went with the tan for this dress because the details on it are a bit more navy. I've also worn this dress without the little "tie" belt, and I think I may actually prefer it without. It doesn't stretch, so the belt got a little uncomfortable throughout the day.  This would be the perfect post-pregnancy dress as well (without the belt).  Loving that most of my "maternity" clothes can work either way!
Since the dress had a bit of a sequin detail around the top (you can see a bit better in the close-up shot above), I decided to skip heavy accessories and instead, opted for a few dainty layered pieces.

Again, thank you all so much for being so excited right along with us as we share this wonderful journey! You all are the best.

The versatile slip dress

I'm a big believer in staple items in a wardrobe. One we may not think of too often is a versatile slip dress. Dresses are some of my favorite go-to pieces anyway because they're just so easy. It takes most of the work out of putting an outfit together. Just throw it on, accessorize, and you're good to go.
However, when I think about one particular type of dress to have, it would be a slip dress that is versatile. One that you can take from day to night. A good way to tell if yours falls into this category is by imagining it with stilettos and with flip flops. If it works with both, you've got a winner.
So I spent a little more than I normally would on a dress when I purchased this one. But it was so perfect that I couldn't resist. I'm already loving it.

For this particular look, I wore it out shopping one day (even got a few compliments on it), then to an early dinner with family.  Easy, comfortable, stylish. The perfect warm-weather outfit.

Oh and speaking of versatility, I cannot wait to wear this in the cooler months with my favorite black moto jacket! So many possibilities!

Relaxed. Comfortable. OOTD

Let's face it, most of you know me pretty well by now. Even if you don't feel like you know me personally, you pretty much get the gist of my personal style.

I love classic. I love mixing trends with classic pieces. I love non-fussy-ness (totally a word). I'm NOT the girl who dresses up in tutus, shoulder pads, and hot-pants for the sake of a blog post. I post what I actually wear. I never like to look like an outfit is too planned and I definitely never like to look like I've tried too hard. Because with personal style, you shouldn't have to.
I like to keep it real.

I dress in what makes me comfortable and I'll never step out in something that I feel ridiculous in. I dress for myself in a way that reflects my personal style. I never dress for the sake of shock value for others.  If something strikes me as fun, I'll wear it. If something makes me feel good, I'll wear it. You'll often find me removing an accessory before I decide to take photos or leave the house. I just go for what feels right to me.

Fashion and personal style doesn't have to be in your face or something that absolutely blows your mind. It just has to feel and look right to me, simple as that.  So simple outfits like this are sometimes the absolute best in my book (and often, the ones that draw the most compliments!).

For me, there's nothing better than a breezy white top, simple accessories, and some distressed jeans.

...metallic Birkenstocks never hurt anyone either. ;)

So my point is, do what makes YOU feel good! Dress for yourself. Establish a personal style, get inspired, and go your own way with your fashion choices. Never feel like you can't wear something because "so and so" wouldn't wear that. Let's face it, "so and so" isn't you and doesn't really look all that great anyway. ;)  So feel good and be happy this week, Loves!

First OOTD with "the bump"

First off, thank you all SO much for your sweet comments and well-wishes for us yesterday! We just couldn't be more thrilled!!

So today I thought I'd share my look I wore out to dinner for my birthday last night.  The first "real" look with the bump. Since it's still small, I've been doing a lot of looser-fitting options lately just because while this first phase is cute, it's not super flattering in a tighter top just yet if you know what I mean. #ijustlookbloated

I have been LIVING for comfy maxi dresses lately. This one is awesome because it's not technically a "maternity" dress. I'm thinking my maternity style definitely won't be "maternity" exclusive, so there will still be something for everyone! Basically, my style has been pretty easy and effortless lately.
Nothin' easier than a maxi dress.  But you know me, I like to add a little something different to make them a little more interesting. So once again, I busted out my tallest gladiator sandals.

the "midi" skirt

Not sure "midi skirt" is what I would call this. I know, I know... it's what they're called.
To me, I'd say they remind me more of an updated poodle skirt.

Truly, nothing is new.  But I think you can definitely put a modern spin on these classic-shaped skirts with a fun tee and some bold accessories.

Oh, and leopard pumps never hurt. ;)

Also, in case you were wondering, this skirt twirls beautifully. I'm a twirler.

Something hilarious to add...   We all know that lots of guys just don't "get" a lot of outfits. Sure, Brad will always say, "You look beautiful."  So sweet.  But seriously, it's hard to get him to comment or offer opinions on specific clothing choices of mine, because he always says that I've never looked bad to him in anything.
...Again, precious.   But this skirt got his attention. Maybe it was the "wifey" shirt, who knows. But he said more than once that he wanted me to wear this outfit again soon. He really liked it and wanted me to know it, which was hilarious. ...And sweet and precious. Guys...

An embellished dress and golden Eiffel Tower shoes... Why not.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far! I thought I'd pop in really quick to share with you all a look from the past week...

You know those outfits that are a little fun but still super comfortable? This was it. I loved this dress and these shoes every second I was wearing them.  That's the fun in being girly and dressing up, right??

We snapped these really quick before grabbing dinner. To me, it's the perfect summer look. Definitely a look that could take you from day to night!

This dress is actually one I've had for quite a while. I scored it at Club Monaco a few seasons back during a sale (it was either during fall or winter). THE BEST time to score some awesome deals on Spring/Summer clothing there. *If you're interested in a dress like this one, I did find some similar alternatives here (and at the bottom of the post).

Paired with a big clutch and some big sunglasses, it's an easy and put-together look.

...and let's not forget the shoes! The best part.

OBSESSED with these! I've also owned the flat version for a while as well. They're just super unique and so comfortable.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention... Dresses with pockets? Pretty much the best.
