No, I mean very light.
Some of us (myself included in the past) tend to shy away from denim in light washes. I find that if you get the fit right and go more toward the super bright and light washes (almost leaning toward white), rather than some of the medium-light blue washes, the look can be much more flattering.
Honestly, I don't purchase denim too often. I often find that more expensive brands just fit me better... which can obviously get pricey. I'm no brand snob by any means though. I've always dreamed of finding the perfect-fitting pair at a lower price point.
Well, I feel kind of like I hit the jackpot at Gap. Sure, they're not quite the price of Forever21, but they are less than half the price of some of the higher end denim brands I love and they are definitely matched in quality.
Seriously, the quality of these are awesome.
So here are a few looks wearing two of the pairs I recently picked up!
First, the Gap Always Skinny Skimmer Jean...
I like to wear mine cuffed pretty large, just once. I just love that particular look.
These are also super comfortable and very stretchy. I actually had to size up in these.
They're just so easy! And they look a bit different and more fresh than a darker wash.
worn with:
BCBG leopard pumps
Everlane Ryan top in Charcoal
Stella & Dot pendant
Stella & Dot bracelet
Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch
Then there's the Gap Sexy Boyfriend in (Pacific wash)...
I have a hard time finding true boyfriend jeans. I've found some good ones in the past from Express (that sadly turned into "little brother" jeans in the wash), but these are thick, slouchy, and truly fit like a "boyfriend" jean should. Baggy and slouchy without looking frumpy. And again, the wash makes them more interesting. I loved these so much that I also purchased them in a darker wash too! Can't wait to wear them with tanks all summer long.
worn with:
Baublebar "Chainmaille bib" in rose gold
Forever 21 striped tank
Louboutin pumps
Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch
I also found the PERFECT shorts from Gap as well in this same light wash. They are the 1969 Raw-Edge Maddie denim shorts. I've tried them on and they fit like a dream... Again, slouchy without feeling frumpy. Can't wait to wear these soon! I'll of course share the look with you when I do!
So what do you all think about this lighter denim trend? I'm obviously feelin' it...
